Description
Klüberfluid NH1 4-005 is a synthetic hydrocarbon-based lubricant designed specifically for mechanical seals operating under various conditions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
This lubricant is NSF H1 registered, ensuring compliance with FDA 21 CFR § 178.3570. It is developed for incidental contact with food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and animal feed products, making it suitable for hygienically sensitive environments. Its use can enhance production reliability, though an additional risk assessment (e.g., HACCP) is recommended.
Application
Klüberfluid NH1 4-005 is suitable as a barrier fluid for mechanical seals operating under inert gas conditions. These seals are commonly used in:
- Mixers
- Driers
- Mills
- Kneaders
- Reactors
- Pumps
Klüber Lubrication offers a range of specialized barrier fluids tailored to different pressure, speed, and temperature conditions.
- For naturally circulating barrier fluids, an oil viscosity of approximately 5 mm²/s is typically used—such as Klüberfluid NH1 4-005.
- For forced circulation systems, a higher viscosity range of 12 - 90 mm²/s is required. Klüber Lubrication provides additional solutions for these applications.
Selecting the right barrier fluid depends on the seal elastomer type and process conditions. Our experts are available to offer customized recommendations.
Application Notes
- Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for mechanical seals.
- The stated service temperature range applies when used under inert gas conditions, as is standard for mechanical seal applications.
