Description

MOLYKOTE® 316 Silicone Release Spray is a heat-stable, silicone-based anti-stick agent designed to address a wide range of adhesion issues across multiple industries. The silicone film it forms is resistant to oxidation, preventing carbon residue buildup and gummy surfaces. Once dried, it remains stable with low volatility at temperatures up to 199°C (390°F).

How to Use

MOLYKOTE® 316 Silicone Release Spray should be applied to clean surfaces for optimal performance.

Surface Preparation:

1. Remove any surface residue using a fine emery cloth or scouring powder until the surface appears shiny.
2. Wipe the surface with a solvent-moistened cloth to eliminate dirt and abrasive particles.

Application Methods:

• The method of application depends on the size, accessibility, and complexity of the unit being processed or packaged.
• In most cases, apply a light, even spray film.
• Allow approximately three minutes of drying time before use.
• The product can also be buffed onto metal surfaces using a hand buffer. Only a thin film is required for effective release, and it should be reapplied as needed.

For Heat-Sealing Units (Irons, Bars, etc.):

• Freshly cleaned units should be run at full operating temperature for a short period after application.
• Once any excess spray is wiped off, the unit is ready for use.

Solubility

• Insoluble in: Water, ethanol, acetone, glycol, and glycerin.
• Dispersible in: Naphtha.

Important: When handling any solvent, ensure proper ventilation and follow all safety precautions listed on the solvent container.

Usable Life & Storage

• Shelf life: 24 months from production date.
• Storage conditions: Keep in original, unopened container at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C.
• Safety precautions: As an aerosol, avoid punctures and keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames.

Limitations

• Do not apply to surfaces that will be painted, as it may interfere with paint adhesion.
